The nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced on 23rd January 2025, and the winners were presented on Sunday 2nd March 2025. Among the music-related winners was the Netflix film "The Only Girl in the Orchestra" which won the Best Documentary Short Film. It tells the story of double bassist Orin O'Brien who became the New York Philharmonic's first female musician in 1966 when she was hired by Leonard Bernstein. Now 89, Orin has retired and the documentary was made by her niece Molly O'Brien. Here are the music winners and nominations with the winners listed first in bold:
