Ding Dong Merrily on High - arranged for alto sax & piano by Jim Paterson

"Ding Dong Merrily on High" is a traditional Christmas Carol whose lyrics were written by the English composer George Ratcliffe Woodward who had an interest in church bell ringing which is the subject of the carol. However the melody is a much older one which was originally a French Dance tune, as recorded in the 16th century by Jehan Tabourot in his study of French Renaissance social dance (including music and steps) called Orchésographie. You can download the sheet music parts for this arrangement, or midi or mp3 files using the links in the left hand menu. Alternatively visit Ding Dong Merrily on High for our solo piano version.

This arrangement is illustrated here using the parts for Alto Saxophone with Piano Accompaniment. However the saxophone can be replaced by any of the following instruments: Main (instruments in C e.g. oboe, flute or violin), High (instruments in C e.g. flute, piccolo or viollin), Low instruments in C - e.g. Bassoon, Cello or Trombone, instruments in B-flat e.g. clarinet or trumpet, cor anglais, french horn (in F) or viola. We also have different arrangements for piano solo or guitar (with Tabs and Chords).
