We Three Kings of Orient Are : The Christmas Carol by John Henry Hopkins Jr.

This Christmas Carol is well-known and its melody's bouncy rhythm has resulted in it being used with various comedy lyrics, sometimes of a ribald variety. The carol in its traditional form was written (both words and music) by John Henry Hopkins (1820-1891) who was an American clergyman. He wrote the carol as part of a production he organised for his students at a seminary (The General Theological Seminary in New York City) where he held the post of musical director.
