"The Farmer's in his Den" is a traditional Children's Song which has an associated dance. In the dance children walk around a chosen "farmer" holding hands. Then the "farmer" picks a "wife" who also goes into the centre. The song continues with the wife picking a child, who picks a nurse, who picks a dog, who then picks a bone. In the final verse the children sing the same song with the words "The Bone Stands Still" while patting the final child's back. If the game continues, then the "bone" becomes the "farmer" for the next round. The song is thought to have originated in Germany, but it has spread across the world with many variations. Even in English you sometimes hear the alternative title "The Farmer's in the Dell". Sheet music, Midi and Mp3 files for this song can be downloaded using the links in the left-hand menu.
