"Dido's Lament" is the aria "When I am Laid in Earth" from the opera "Dido and Aeneas". The opera's music is by Henry Purcell and the libretto by Nahum Tate. Although the Original version of Dido's Lament requires a String Orchestra, the version on this page only needs a Piano to accompany the Soprano Soloist. Alternatively the music of the singer's part can be played by an Oboe to make it a pure instrumental version.
It is assumed that the Pianist will play from the Score and the same part will suffice for either Soprano or Oboe. Video, midi and mp3 files can be found below or via the left-hand links.
