This music is a Piano version of the Bourrée in E minor from the Lute Suite (also in E minor, BWV 996) by Johann Sebastian Bach. A Bourrée is a type of dance music and it is commonly included within Baroque Suites. This particular Bourrée was originally written for the Lute but it is also very popular as a Guitar work. Since it is in two voices throughout, it is readily played as a piano work and is easily adapted to be played as a duet for various instruments. On mfiles you might be interested to check out the Guitar Version and our Duet Version with parts for different instruments and combinations. The piece has also been covered and adapted by many artists, most famously by Jethro Tull under the title "Bourée" and included on their album "Stand Up".
