Tchaikovsky composed a number of collections of shorter works for the Piano. This one is based on his "Chanson Triste" (or Sad Song) from his Op.40 collection called "12 pieces of intermediate difficulty". However it has been arranged by Jim Paterson for Oboe and Piano, though alternative instruments are also capable of playing the Oboe part. The sheet music available for download consists of the Oboe part and the overall Score since it is assumed that the pianist will play from the score. The original work is also available on mfiles as Chanson Triste for Piano Solo.
