"Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum" is the opening piece from Claude Debussy's piano suite called "Children's Corner" which was dedicated to his then 3 year old daughter Claude-Emma (or "Chou-Chou"). The unusual title for this particular piece makes fun of the graded studies promising easy mastery of the piano. The original work is available on mfiles and is for solo piano, and we have two arrangements for solo instrument and piano. One is a harder arrangement and the one on the current page is the Easier Arrangement - see below and in the left-hand menu. In both cases the arrangement is illustrated using a Flute and Piano, though other instruments such as an Oboe or Violin can play the Flute part and we have also included alternative parts for Clarinet in B-flat or Alto Saxophone.
