Much of Saint-Saens' music is free from the constraints of classical form. His 3rd symphony (often called the "Organ Symphony") is quite unusual since it uses an organ and 2 pianos, yet it is one of his most popular works. These few bars are only a short excerpt from the 3rd movement of the symphony, and they will be familiar to many people because the melody was used as the main theme in the film "Babe" and adapted in various arrangements by the film's composer Nigel Westlake. The theme is also quite popular as a wedding march, where it is often played on a solo organ - see more examples of Wedding Music. Here the music has been arranged slightly so it can be played on a piano, keyboard or organ, and you can download the PDF sheet music, midi or mp3 files using the links in the left-hand menu. The original full orchestral version of this excerpt is also available on mfiles.
The audio controls below allow you to play the mp3 version of Babe (piano) or you can download the MP3 file. You can also download the midi version of Babe (piano).
