This Tune is usually refered to as "Dominus regit me" in hymnals, and it was written by John Bacchus Dykes. It is normally used to sing the hymn "The King of Love my Shepherd is" whose words were written by Henry Williams Baker (1821-1877), based on the 23rd Psalm like The Lord's My Shepherd. It is sung on a wide variety of occasions though it seems to be a favourite choice for funeral services and was sung, for example, at the funeral of Princess Diana. John Bacchus Dykes (1823-1876) was an organist and a prolific composer of hymn tunes. He became the vicar of St. Oswald's, Durham in 1862 but died at the age of only 53.
