Traditional Christmas Carol: The First Nowell (or Noel)

This traditional Christmas Carol has been a favourite for centuries, and seems to have originated in England or possibly Cornwall in the early 1800s. The Carol will be familiar to many people, and was famously used by the composer Victor Hely-Hutchinson in the 3rd movement of his "Carol Symphony" composed in 1929. This was in turn used as the theme tune for both the Radio (1943) and TV (1984) series adaptations of John Masefield's children's fantasy novel "Box of Delights".
