Spanish Ladies, a Traditional Nautical Folk Song

Spanish Ladies is a traditional song which originated in the British Navy centuries ago. Like many folk songs it has evolved and changed with many variations appearing in the lyrics and melody in different parts of the world, and is now essentially viewed as a Sea Shanty. The song was sung by the character Quint in the movie "Jaws", and the film's composer John Williams incorporated versions of the melody into his music score. And you can also hear the song in the movie "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World".

This version is for Bassoon and Piano with verse and chorus just slight variations on the same basic song, which can then be repeated for however many verses are required. Download the sheet music with Bassoon Part and Score (the Pianist can play from the score), plus midi and mp3 files using the menu on the left. Or view/play the music below. Alternatively we also have a version of this song on mfiles arranged for Piano Solo.
