Catalogued as Op. 102 no. 6, this is last of the many "Songs Without Words" (or "Lieder ohne Worte") published by Felix Mendelssohn in his lifetime. In total he composed 48 of these piano works (in 8 sets of 6) with a new set being published every 2 to 3 years throughout his tragically short life. The song titles were added later by publishers rather than by the composer himself, and this final piece has been given the name "Faith".
