Ragtime Music was a new style of popular music which originated in America, but gained a following in many countries in the early 1900s. In France Claude Debussy was one of the few Classical Composers to be influenced by this style of music, and he adapted the style for some of his own piano pieces. His Golliwog's Cakewalk is a fun piece (and the last piece) from a set of 6 piano pieces called "Children's Corner", and it uses the characteristic syncopation of ragtime and the simple "two step" style in the left hand.
