While downloads of Digital Sheet Music are on the increase, many people still like to get their favourite sheet music in tangible book form. There has never been a wider choice and selection of Film Sheet Music, and many new books are released as soon as the films themselves hit the cinemas. Here are some great new titles to check out:

There is a lot of great sheet music for musicals both old and new. Here are some of our favourites:





Among recent sheet music for film themes and songs, the Music Room now stock for piano solo the theme from Nigel Hess' Ladies in Lavendar, and also the pieces from Craig Armstrong's Piano Works. Meanwhile Music Notes can provide for immediate download sheet music for a number of songs and tracks from Danny Elfman's recent films Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
A collection of piano sheet music form John Debney's music to The Passion of the Christ is now available. The tracks included are "Bearing the Cross", "Peter Denies Jesus", "Flagellation", "Disciples", "Mary Goes to Jesus", "Crucifixion", "It is Done", "Jesus is Carried Down" and "Resurrection". You should be able to find this at a number of music stores including these locations online: The Music Room or Sheet Music Plus.
This is the cover of the piano sheet music collection of themes and songs from Hans Zimmer's music to "King Arthur". The tracks included are "All of Them!", "Another Brick in Hadrian's Wall", "Budget Meeting", "Do You Think I'm Saxon?", "Hold the Ice", "Tell Me Now" and "Woad to Ruin". You will notice a few examples of excrutiating word play in some of these track titles, but don't let that put you off! The 2nd volume of "Essential Film Themes" is now out for solo piano. Essential Film Themes 2 has tracks from About a Boy, About Schmidt, Amelie, Big Fish, Calendar Girls, Catch me if you Can, Chicago, Cold Mountain, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Donnie Darko, Far from Heaven, Frida, The Hours, Intoleraqble Cruelty, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, Lost in Translation, Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Quiet American, Road to Perdition, Sea Biscuit, Spirited Away and Talk to Her (Habla con Ella). Since many of the 23 films are represented with more than one track, there are 36 pieces in total! You can find Essential Film Themes 2 at The Music Room.
Among other new releases are two interesting ones from the "Original Soundtrack Collection" series for piano solo. Not only do these have rare pieces from the featured composers, but they also include a CD with orchestral versions of most of the sheet music works. So you can play along with your CD! The two composers currently available in the series are two of the greatest Italian film composers. There is Nino Rota (at The Music Room or Sheet Music Plus or Music Notes) and Ennio Morricone (currently only at The Music Room). A fantastic bargain for any pianist who is also a film fan.
