Lionel Newman - from Mae West to Elvis
Lionel Newman started out playing piano for Mae West before moving into film work. Once established, his career closely parallels that of his elder brother Alfred Newman, with work on a wide variety of films and a certain successful specialisation with musicals. He scored Elvis Presley's first film "Love me Tender", and also played significant roles in the musicals "Doctor Dolittle" and "Hello Dolly!". Among other jobs he is also active as a conductor.
